Philip Zimbardo, Time, and ACIM

All your past except its beauty is gone, and nothing is left but a blessingPsychologist Philip Zimbardo gave a TED Talk on his perspective of time. I think he's onto something. A Course in Miracles speaks frequently and at length about time. We cannot expect a scientist's language to match that of the Course, still, Zimbardo's conclusions seem to come close to syncing with A Course in Miracles.

Watch the video and read the quotes from A Course in Miracles below. The quotes are given with page references so you can read the quotes in context and see what you think.

All your past except its beauty is gone, and nothing is left but a blessing.

(Text: "Teaching and Healing")
Those who are certain of the outcome can afford to wait, and wait without anxiety.

- A Course in Miracles
(Manual: "IX. Patience")
If truth demanded they give up the world, it would appear to them as if it asked the sacrifice of something real. Many have chosen to renounce the world while still believing its reality. They have suffered from a sense of loss and have not been released accordingly. Others have chosen nothing but the world and they have suffered from a sense of loss still deeper which they did not understand.

Between these paths, there is another road which leads away from loss of every kind, for sacrifice and deprivation both are quickly left behind. This is the way appointed for you now. You walk this path as others walk. You do not seem to be distinct from them, although you are indeed. Thus can you serve them while you serve yourself and set their footsteps on the way which God has opened up to you, and them through you.

Sometimes a psychologist will conduct an experiment to prove the obvious. Yet we appreciate all attempts at helping humanity in understanding happiness.

Phillip Zimbardo also conducted the infamous "Stanford Prison Experiement" in which students were given roles as prisoners and prison guards. The result was what I call the "Lord of the Flies" syndrome. It happens everywhere, albeit in more subtle forms on a day to day basis. It is simply the ego let go to its extremes. A Course in Miracles explains it all in just under 1200 pages.
